Traffic on Karnah-Kupwara road suspended

Kupwara: After Sadhna top received fresh snowfall, the authorities Tuesday suspended the vehicular movement on Karnah –Kupwara road.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that the traffic was suspended on the road following a fresh snowfall.

He said that the decision to suspend the traffic on the road was taken as a precautionary measure.

Officials said that at least six inch snow had accumulated near high altitude Sadhna pass till 9 PM yesterday.

The snowfall continues in upper reaches of the frontier district while rains lashed the plains on Tuesday morning.

“Traffic movement will be restored at the high altitude road only after the improvement in the weather conditions,” DC said, adding that traffic on other major roads was plying normally while the electricity was supplied as per the schedule.

However, the snowfall led to the slippery conditions on the roads in Lolab Valley, causing hardships to the commuters.
