BJP legislator threatens NC lawmaker  

Jammu: The BJP and NC legislators on Monday were involved in various verbal brawls after the Chairman Legislative Council; Haji Inayat Ali allowed a discussion on the Shopian killings.

MLC Ashok Khajuria threatened NC MLC Showkat Hussain Ganai of ‘throwing him out from the House’ after he refused to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in the House.

As the discussion was going on in the House, the NC MLC in his speech said the people of Kashmir were not in support of Pakistan but wanted freedom.

The statement agitated the BJP members who stood up and demanded an apology from the NC legislator.

“During the last session he also termed militants (Burhan Wani) as martyr. He should apologize for it in the House,” Khajuria told the House.

Meanwhile, the house witnessed noisy scenes as members from ruling BJP and opposition NC entered into heated exchange of words.

“Bolo Bharat Mata kie jai (Say Bharat Mata Kie Jai),” Khajuria told Ganai repeatedly. Hover, Ganai refused to please him against which Khajuria told him, “I will throw you out of the House.”

Amid the verbal brawl between the members, the leader of House Naeem Akhtar intervened and said all the members have taken oath under the constitution of India and, “there is no room to speak against the constitution in the House.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the House announced the name of PDP legislator to participate in the discussion while as others agitated that they were not given a chance to participate in the discussion.

In the meantime, NC lawmaker Sajad Ahmad Kichloo entered into a heated exchange with chairman of the House and accused him of biased approach towards opposition members particularly NC.
