Uproar in House as opposition demands discussion on Shopian civilian killings

Jammu: The opposition parties created the ruckus in the Legislative Assembly on Monday over killing of two civilians by the army in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

As soon as the House assembled this morning after a long break, the National Conference (NC) and Congress legislators stood up and demanded a discussion over the killing of two civilians.

NC General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhamamd Sagar demanded that the business should be suspended to discuss the killings by the government forces.

Later in the insistence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the Speaker of the House Kavinder Gupta allowed the discussion on the killings of two youth – Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone – who were shot dead by army in Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday.
