Special envoy Dineshwar Sharma to arrive in Kashmir today

Srinagar: The special representative of Union government and former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma is arriving in Kashmir today.

Ahead of the visit, Sharma met Governor N.N. Vohra in New Delhi and held extensive discussions in regard to several important issues relating to the restoration of peace and normalcy in J&K.

The latest visit of Sharma to the valley will be his fourth and in the last three visits he met different sections of people.

On 6 November, Sharma embarked on his first visit to the state as the interlocutor. While the Hurriyat Conference and other separatist leaders are yet to participate in the dialogue process, despite Sharma’s assurances during his previous visit that he would try and reach out to the separatists, the experts stated that the possibility of talks with the less hardline separatists must not be ruled out just yet.
