No high alert sounded in Kashmir Valley, says police

Srinagar: Police on Friday dispelled reports of putting Srinagar and other Valley parts on high alert, saying ahead of the Republic Day normal security arrangements have been put in place.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Muneer Khan told a local news gathering gency that there is no specific militant threat in Kashmir Valley ahead of the Republic Day as reported by some sections of the media earlier.

ADGP Kashmir also rejected reports of any High Alert being sounded in Srinagar and said that no such measure has been taken by the Police.

“The security arrangements are normal ahead of the Independence Day or Republic Day celebrations in Kashmir. This has been happening every year and saying that Valley has been put on High Alert is wrong,” Khan said, adding that there is also no specific militant threat in Kashmir ahead of January 26.
