Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and Goverment forces in Larnoo area of Kokernag in Anantnag district on Tuesday morning.

A top police officer said that  the gunfight broke out after joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

As per the initial reports, 2 to 3 militants were hiding in a residential house and they fired upon forces then took shelter in nearby forests as forces were laying siege to the area.

When last reports came in intermittent firing was going on.
