NIA cancels its summon to Geelani’s son

Srinagar: In a surprise move, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) today cancelled at the last moment appearance of Syed Naseem Geelani before it.

Naseem,  son of All Party Hurriyat Conference  Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was to appear before the NIA today and was  already in Delhi to appear before the agency, sources said.

No reason was given for the cancellation of the summons to Naseem.

Naseem is believed to have received the message conveying him about cancellation of the summon minutes before he was to appear before NIA at its headquarters at New Delhi.

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik had termed the summoning of Syed Naseem as an act of “vengeance and harassment” and forcing them for talks.

“Summoning of senior resistance leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s son again to Delhi is an act of vengeance and intimidation”, the leaders said in a statement recently.
