Gang of thieves busted, stolen property worth 11 lakhs recovered 

Baramulla: Police on Friday claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting four persons involved in the crime. The police also claimed to have recovered the property of Rs 11 lakhs comprising jewelry, mobile phones and other objects.

Officials said that the Police Post Delina received a complaint from Khazan Singh, son of Darshan Singh and Nazir Ahmad Kuchay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kuchay, resident of Singhpora Baramulla to the effect that during the intervening night of 10 Nov 2017, four unknown masked person armed with knives and swords barged into their house and held them at ransom.

“The gang tied the members of the family with rope and also attempted molestation of one women (name with held) in one of the houses. They looted jewelry, mobile phones and valuables from both the houses,” they said, adding that the incident had created a sense of fear and insecurity in the whole area.

In receipt complaint, a case under FIR No 222/2017 and 223/2017 under section 354, 380, 392,458, 511 RPC of P/S Baramulla was registered and investigation into the matter was set up.

“During the course of investigation a number of suspects were rounded up. It was after strenuous efforts put forth by the investigating team that a group gang of 04 persons was involved in the commission of the offence were identified and later on arrested,” they said.

The persons involved in commission were identified as Nissar Ahmad Rather @ Chilaikalan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather, resident of Hygam Baramulla, Mohammad Dilawar Dar, son of Mohammad Yousuf, resident of Hygam, Basharat Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Hygam and Adil Hussain Khan, son of  Mohammad Maqbool Khan, resident of Kalampora Singhpora Baramulla.

“All the looted property of estimated cost of about Rs Eleven lakh has been recovered from different places at the instance of the accused persons,” they said, adding that the weapon of offence like knives, ropes and other items have also been recovered.

The team of officers led by Ruhail Mircha Dy. SP Headquarters Baramulla, SHO Baramulla Khalid Fayaz and D.O Delina SI Ashraf made exemplary efforts to nab the dacoits and recover the looted property, police said.
