NC stages protests, rues ‘failure’ of government

Anantnag: National Conference on Thursday staged a protest against what they termed as the failure of the government on all fronts.

The NC leaders and activists of Anantnag district alleged that the PDP-BJP combination has failed on all fronts especially in providing adequate power supply to the people.

The protesters headed by Dr Shafi alleged that people are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of basic facilities especially electricity in towns as well as in rural areas.

The protesters raised slogans against the government and demanded that the coalition government should gear up to tackle the current situation for the well being of the people.

Raising anti-government slogans, the party office bearers and activists of Anantnag district held the protest near Dak Banglow in the town for nearly two hours, sources said.

One among the protester, Ghulam Mohammad Shah, said the government is playing joke with the population of his home town by giving power for few minutes during the day.

“We have not suffered such acute shortage of power during the past 70 years. Alternate arrangements like inverters have become defunct because the power supply is not provided for an hour constantly,” he added.
