Drug peddler held, 08 kg charas recovered

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police while continuing its drive against drug menace, has arrested a drug peddler and recovered about 08 kilograms of charas from his possession.

A spokesman of police said that acting on an information, a police party of District Police Srinagar laid a naka in Qamarwari area. During naka checking, a sumo bearing registration number JK05A-4325 driven by Mohammad Shafi Chopan son of Habib-ul-Lah Chopan resident of Devar Lolab was intercepted. On checking the vehicle, about 08 kilograms of charas was recovered.

A case FIR number 297/17 under section 8/20 NDPS has  been registered and further investigation of the case is in progress. More arrests and recoveries are expected, the official said.

Meanwhile, people from District Srinagar have expressed their gratitude to J&K Police Chief Shri S.P. Vaid and IGP Kashmir Shri Munir Khan who have been personally monitoring the drive against this menace..
