Restrictions imposed in Srinagar

Srinagar: Restrictions were imposed in various parts of Srinagar today to prevent separatist-called protests against the civilian killings in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said these prohibitory orders were in place in seven police station areas including Ràinawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, M.R.Gunj, Safakadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud.

The district authorities had yesterday informed that unlike other six, the areas falling under Kral Khud Police Stations will remain under partial restrictions.

‘‘The restrictions have been  imposed as a precautionary measure,” they said.

“Partial restrictions have also been imposed in Maisuma and Kralkhud police station areas” , they added.

Coils of barbed wire have been placed at traffic crossings in the areas under restrictions.

Heavy contingents of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed.

Train service between north Kashmir’s Baramulla town and Jammu’s Bannihal town has been suspended.

Authorities have placed Mirwaiz under house arrest while as Geelani continues to remain under house arrest.

Earlier, the JRL had called for a complete shutdown on Wednesday against what they termed as the growing Indian aggression.

They have appealed people to observe complete shutdown today to protest against the civilian killings in last one week.
