One way traffic allowed on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

Srinagar:Jammu Srinagar National Highway has been opened opened for one way traffic.

According to a senior traffic official movement of traffic on NHW shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a very regulated manner and for a specific time.

“Keeping in view the over all condition of the road, especially between Jawahar Tunnel and Ramban coupled with narrow width of the NHW at some places, only one way movement of traffic is feasible on the NHW. ” a traffic police official said.

He said that under the said plan movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0700 hours upto 1100 hours strictly beyond which no Jammu bound LMV/passenger vehicle shall be allowed to cross the said location for onwards journey.

No movement of any Jammu bound LMV/ passenger vehicle shall be allowed from Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) after 1000 hours to avoid congestion on the NHW. Similarly, the movement of HMVs (except trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Levdora, Qazigund from 0700 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel upto 1230 hours positively. Strict implementation of the cut off timings/traffic plan, as above, shall be ensured.
