Sopore: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sopore, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar Monday handed over 30 scooties among the disabled persons in Sopore in the presence of the officials from Social Welfare Department.
Dar donated the scooties from his CDF (Constituency Development Fund), costing Rupees twenty two lakhs.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sopore said that “it is our duty to help these physically challenged persons.”
He appreciated the efforts of Minister of Social Welfare department, Sajad Gani Lone and stated that there are certain schemes of Department under which disabled persons are provided with relief.
“The schemes for the disabled persons are aimed to provide every possible help to physically challenged persons,” he said.
The residents of the area also hailed the initiative of the MLA by helping the needy persons.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Khursheed Ahmad Shah, District Social Welfare, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar and several others were also present.
Besides, many locals of the area including social and political activists were also present on the occasion.
