Tral shuts down after militant’s body found

Tral: Police on Saturday recovered a dead body of a foreign militant in Eidgah ground in Tral, police said.

The body wrapped in a blanket had a letter attached saying that the man is a Jaish-e-Mohammad militant who died after an IED explosion took place in forest area of Tral.

The letter written in Urdu identified the slain militant as Umar Bhai from Pakistan, requesting people to bury him at an earliest.

A police official said that on Saturday morning locals informed police about the dead body present in Eidgah ground at Tral.

Police reached the spot and took the body into possession for completing legal formalities.

Later the Director General of Police, S P Vaid in his tweet said that ‘while fabricating IED in a hideout near Handura Aripal Tral, an explosion took place in which one militant of reportedly JEM died whose body has been recovered by J&K Police/ SF’.

Witnesses said that a complete shutdown was observed in Tral area to mourn the death of JeM militant, whose body was found early morning. ‘

They said that most of the shops and other commercial establishments remained closed in the area while public transport was also off the roads.
