Minister assures help, says sacked couple will be reinstated in 7 days

Srinagar: Minister for education Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari Friday stated that the couple teacher who were sacked from a private school will be reinstated within a week’s time.

Talking to ‘Kashmir Vision’, Bukhari said the school management has been called by concerned district administration to ascertain all the facts about the incident.

“The administration will also listen to the grievance of teachers who have been sacked by the school management,” he said.

The education minister said the district administration has been asked to submit a report regarding the incident which will be followed by further course of action.

“If teachers don’t have any fault other than marrying each other than they will be reinstated in the school,” the education minister said.

Tariq Ahmad Bhat and Sumaiya, residents of Ahrigam Tral were sacked by school management of MEI school a day after their marriage. The school management had stated that the duo were involved in romantic relationship.

“How does it matter if they liked each other, they got married also. This should not be taken as reason for sacking them,” Bukhari said.

He said the teachers will be reinstated within few days.

“The deputy Commissioner will submit his report and teachers will be reinstated,” he said.

Meanwhile, no one from school management was available for comments despite repeated attempts by this newspaper.

President Private School Association Kashmir (PSAK) G N Var said the matter was highlighted in media only.

“The sacked couple didn’t approach the association but media. We will also take up the matter with school management to address the grievance of the couple teachers,” G N Var added.
