Doctors to go for two hour pen down strike tomorrow across state: DAK

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has castigated the ‘callous’ approach of authorities in intervening the matter where SDM Zainapora talked ‘rudely’ and misbehaved with senior consultant surgeon who had come out of operation theater after completing surgical procedures at CHC Zainapora.

DAK has been peacefully protesting since yesterday to stress authorities to take disciplinary action against the concerned SDM but the authorities both at the Directorate & Ministerial level seems  to be unmoved about the incident which is utterly shameful and deplorable.

A delegation of DAK led by its president  Dr Suhail Naik met Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman today wherein the delegation demanded that a strict action  to be taken against the SDM and to stop this undue interference & harasssement by low rung officers. He assured the delegation of resolving the matter but DAK is skeptical about the outcome and it has been decided to go ahead with 2 hour pen down strike tomorrow and in that context a letter(copyenclosed) has been shot to Hon’ble CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti, Hon’ble Health Minister Mr Bali Bhagat, Divisional Commisioner Kashmir, Mr Baseer Khan and all the hospital administrators across state.

Dr Suhail Naik  said that , keeping patient care as top most priority DAK tried its level best to highlight this grave issue peacefully but unfortunately Govt. , Health & District Administration failed miserably which leaves us with no option but to go for 2 hour pen down strike from 10 am to 12 o’clock tomorrow barring emergencies, ICUs and emergency operations. The initensity of protests will increase if Govt. fails to take appropraiate action against SDM as per service rules. Moreover DAK appeals the public to cooperate with us in this moment of agony and gloom among health personnel.

Pertinently,  major city hospitals including SKIMS, JVC & GMC Associated Hospitals,  have been exempted from the strike while as all peripheral institutes will observe protest, the DAK statement said.
