Malik arrested, shifted to central jail Srinagar

Srinagar: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police and shifted to central jail Srinagar, a spokesman said on Monday.

The JKLF spokesman said that police today morning cordoned the residence of Malik and arrested him. “He was immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar,” spokesman said as per the statement issued here.

Condemning these arrests which were made in wake of a protest strike called by JRL today, JKLF spokesman said that “a blanket ban on the peaceful political activities of resistance leaders and arresting Yasin Malik and placing Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwiaz Umar Farooq under house arrest has become a common practice of the rulers and their Indian masters, who are not finding any courage to fight resistance camp politically.”

Meanwhile, prior to arrest and shifting to central jail Srinagar, Malik said that blanket ban on political activities, incarceration of thousands of old, young, women, men specially–abled, ailing and minors, reign of terror and torture unleashed throughout  the nooks and corners of south and north of Kashmir valley, are actually glaring examples of ‘Indian state terrorism’ in Jammu Kashmir.

He said that “Indian rulers intend to defeat Kashmiri resistance through Hitler type tactics and Indian ministers like Arun Jaitly are boosting on this military suppression.”

Malik said that “Indian leaders should realize that Kashmiris despite all these oppressive measures will continue with their resistance till the achievement of the sacred goal.” JKLF chief said that for about 200 years, British imperialism kept Indian under its occupation and till 1947, British dreamed of keeping India under its occupation forever but the fact of history is that it had to withdraw its forces from India, and declare India and Pakistan as independent states. “It is our firm belief that sooner or later, India will also have to bow before the Kashmiri people’s resistance and accept the right of self determination of the people of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.

While condemning the ongoing oppression throughout Kashmir especially in north and south of Kashmir, Malik said that Indian rulers think that by this repression, they can conquer Kashmir, but their thinking is only like day dreaming and absurd.

Expressing serious concern over the plight of thousands of people languishing in jails and incarceration centers, he said that thousands of young and old have  been put behind bars under black laws and similarly  NIA and ED are being used to put more people including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif- u- ullah, Raja Meraj- u- Din Kalwal, Shahid- ul- Islam, Nayem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Kamran Yousuf  ,Javid Ahmad and Shahid Yousuf in Tihar jail.

He said that all this is being done to ‘terrorize’ and intimidate Kashmiris, so that Kashmiri resistance is defeated or weakened.

Malik said that harsh measure and torture is infect making us more resilient and strong and is refreshing our passion to fight for freedom.

He said that oppression, suppression, arrests, torture, crack downs, curfews and restrictions are actually the face of the Indian democracy in Jammu Kashmir and all this Hitlerism is highly condemnable.

JKLF chairman said that “our unity and continues struggle will surely defeat the designs of our enemies and our oppressed nation will surely achieve its desired goal.”
