Fake licence racket busted in Srinagar, one held

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a fake license racket and arrested a person in summer capital Srinagar.

A spokesman of police said that on the basis of reliable input,  Police Station Nigeen laid down a surprise naka and arrested one person namely Ghulam Jeelani Resident of Shaheedgunj. From his possession few fake driving licences were recovered.

He said that on further interrogation the said person revealed that he is running a shop near civil secretariat. On his disclosure the said shop was raided and various fake licenses,  fake vehicle insurance, fake shops licenses,  forged security forces I cards,  mobile phones, computers and other incriminating material was siezed from the spot.

The official said that Jeelani further revealed that he is running this racket of fake government documents from last 3 years.

Jeelani admitted that he used to provide fake driving license at a cost of Rs. 1500/- and used to similarly charge for other forged documents as well. Many fake I cards of various security forces like CRPF, JKP, Army were also recovered from his possession, police said.

Police Station Nigeen has registered FIR no 150/2017 u/s 420,467,471 of RPC and investigation has been taken up.
