Show restraint, follow Geelani’s instructions: Hurriyat (G) to youth

Srinagar: Asking youth to show restraint during braid chopping attempts by miscreants, Hurriyat Conference (G) Saturday appealed people to follow instructions of Syed Ali Geelani while dealing with the issue.

The amalgam  spokesman as per the statement issued here also asked people to maintain discipline as “vested interests are trying to deviate us and trying hard to malign our movement.”

Terming various incidents wherein many innocents were thrashed and even in Sopore some persons tried to burn alive a mentally unsound person as extreme unfortunate, sad and frightening.

“It is a well-planned ploy to deviate our attention,” he said, adding that  in the crucial times “we need to take care of all this, as conspiracies are being hatched to create chaos and anarchy in society.”

“We need to follow the guidelines as laid by Syed Ali Geelani,” spokesman said.

He also appealed people to observe restraint as “we are duty bound to keep watch over these elements involved in the assault on women.”

“We have asked to constitute local Mohalla committees and handover all suspected persons to credible members of committee for investigations, recording statements and for future course of action so as no innocent is implicated or guilty is allowed to leave by the authorities,” he said, adding that no one should attack or deal with any suspected person.

“As there are more chances that their associates and colleagues may take advantage of this and malign the situation as reported from several places. We need to keep a close vigil on such elements as they are desperate to spoil our sacred freedom movement and divine ethical values,” the spokesman said, adding that “these elements are trying hard to bring bad name to our cherished goal.”

Hurriyat (G) while referring to Geelani’s literarily work, his directives and speeches, said that he has always emphasized youth to develop culture of obedience, demonstration of discipline and stressed youth to follow moral and human values during protest demonstrations and while patrolling their localities.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) spokesman condemned the arrest of resistance leaders and activists, saying that “these arbitrary arrests won’t dampen our spirits nor can break our resolve for ongoing movement.”

“We are pursuing our mission since decades and no arbitrary or coercive measures can prevent us from following this mission,” he said.

Decrying continuous house arrest of Geelani, spokesman said that since last seven years he is in forced house detention, while as Mohamad Ashraf Sehrai and Mohammad Ashraf Laya were also detained by authorities since long.

Hurriyat (G) said that its spokesman Gh Ahmad Gulzar was arrested and lodged in police station and similarly other leaders including Mohammad Yasin Ataie, Syed Imtiaz Haider and Bashir Budgami were also arrested and lodged in police station Budgam.

While condemning the fresh arrest spree, he said that “these arbitrary measures won’t break our resolve nor can deviate us from our cherished goal.”
