Handwara: A militant has been killed in an encounter with government forces in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara districton Sunday morning.
“Acting on a specfic information a joint team of army’s 9 Para a Nd SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Hajin area of Kralgund today at around 5:00 am“, a senior police officer told GNS.
As the joint team intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fired triggering off an encounter, he said.
In the gunfight, a Pakistani militant has been killed and his identity is being ascertained, the officer said.
