AIP condemns curbs in Old City

Srinagar: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) on Friday condemned the imposition of restrictions in Old City.

AIP spokesman, Inam-un-Nabi according to the statement issued here said that raising the bogey of maintaining law and order, the whole population of the Old City is repeatedly made hostage in their own homes by imposing curfews.

He said that the restrictions in Old City creates immense trouble for the people, including students and patients of the area.

“This plan is being followed by the government as part of the policy of seeking revenge from the people,” he added.

The spokesman said that heavy deployment of forces around central Jamia Masjid on Friday’s is a major cause of concern for the people in the area and leads to creation of tension.

Nabi further said that the aggressive tactics by the government like, curfew, restrictions, and atrocities can’t suppress the people for raising their voice of justice and demands of basic political right.
