Farooq sermons students to learn Quran, imbibe teachings of Islam

Srinagar: National Conference (NC), President Dr Farooq Abdullah Thursday impressed upon people to maintain unity among different sections of the society and work towards spreading the teachings of Islam.

Addressing a group of students belonging to Jamia Zia ul Uloom, Higher Secondary School Poonch at his Gupkar residence Dr Farooq Abdullah said, “The whole country is going through very tough times. The forces inimical to the unity are out on loose. Their only concern is to spread hatred and vitiate peaceful atmosphere. It therefore is incumbent upon all of us to defeat the evil designs.”

The students led by Darul Uloom Principal Moulvi Waheed Ahmad Banday are on a 5 day visit to Kashmir.

Abdullah stressed upon the students to learn Holy Quran and imbibe the teachings of Islam in its true spirit. “As a Muslim it’s our primary duty to spread Islam. The path is in front of you which is to first learn and then spread the teachings of the Holy book and help others understand it. It therefore becomes your duty to spread Islam all across,” Dr Farooq said.

Abdullah later distributed shawls and caps among students and appreciated the works done by the founder of the said Jamia and Dar ul Aloom Poonch Moulana Ghulam Qadir Banday who is also a member of All India Personal Law Board. “His services towards Islam and welfare of the people will always be remembered,” Dr Farooq said.
