Srinagar: Suspected militants on Wednesday evening shot dead an SPO in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A Police Officer said that the SPO Haleem Gujjar S/o Fateh Gujjar R/O Gutro, Aripal Tral was fired upon by militants near his residence.

In the incident Haleem suffered critical bullet wounds and was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.

Soon the after the incident forces launched the hunt to nab the assailants.

The slain policeman was a resident of Gutroo Village in Tral and was currently posted at Aripal tehsil in Tral sub division, a police spokesman said.

Investigation is on in the case and a manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants, he added.
