Pro-freedom slogans raised during slain militant’s funeral in south Kashmir

Pro-freedom slogans were raised during the funeral procession of a militant killed last evening during a scuffle while killing a PDP worker in Humhona in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

According to sources, a large gathering of people raising pro-freedom and anti-Indi slogans, turned up  for the funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant Showkat Ahmad.

Pertinently Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh (50), a former sarpanch and PDP worker was killed by militants last evening in Imamsahab area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district while a Hizb militant Showkat Falahi was also killed in the subsequent scuffle.

Sources said the suspected militants shot dead Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh outside his residence at Huomhuna village of Imamsahab area this evening.

Sheikh was rushed to Zainapora hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the killing, the family of Sheikh had a scuffle with the militants during which a Hizb militant Showkat Falahi of Trenz Shopian was also killed.

Sources said that Falahi was killed after his rifle went off during the scuffle.

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said that three militants fired and killed ex-panch PDP in Shopian.

“In scuffle, one militant was also killed,” Vaid tweeted.
