Physical fitness must for attaining mental strength: Basharat Bukhari

Baramulla: Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari today said that physical strength is necessary for attaining mental strength and urged youth to come forward for participation in extra co-curricular activities for the same.

He said that these activities would channelize the potential of youth in a positive direction and added that the present Government is very concerned in strengthening the sports infra in the State.

The Minister was speaking at the annual day function of Government Higher Secondary School Kreeri Baramulla wherein he was invited as the chief guest.

Terming a teacher as a nation builder, the Minister highlighted their role in the overall career development of a student and said that our commitment is to increase capacity building measures so that overall performance of the teachers are enhanced. He urged upon the teachers to create conducive environ while dealing with the students and stressed for adopting student-friendly learning measures.

On the occasion, Bukhari announced Rs 1 lakh for developing the basic infrastructure of the institute and a girls restroom which was the long pending demand of female students of the school.

While sharing his personal experience with the students, the Minister said that this institution played a pivotal role in shaping his career. He also lauded the performance of students who presented various cultural programmes and said that such occasions provide a platform to students to display their hidden talent.

Chief Education officer Abdul Ahad Ashaie, Principals of various educational institutions, district and sectoral officers, prominent citizens of the area, besides a large number of students were present on the occasion.
