Srinagar: It was a pleasant bright Saturday morning as the under 23 team members of Jammu and Kashmir state were bubbling with energy and enthusiasm on a brilliantly laid wicket in Gantoor in Hydrabad.

The under 23 team members were overflowing with energy and enthusiasm as they had bowled the first 13 over’s of the four day match between Goa and JK. Goa had performed fairly well by scoring 43 for the loss of one wicket against the formidable pace men from JK.

All of a sudden, the match referee made his appearance in the field and announced that the match be stopped as the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI), had directed the officials to do so.

The referee, according to the officials told the players that a left out participant, Hisham Saleem son of Dr Saleem ur Rehman  has got a stay order from the court asking BCCI to stop participation of JK’s team in the ongoing Col. C K Naidu tournament, organised by the BCCI.

“The announcement came as a shock for the players as they were in high spirits ahead of the tournament. The players thought that this is just an small interruption but even though four days have passed, the players have not been told to resume the match,” an official of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, said.

“The players are in a dilemma and for the last two days they are not even having their refreshments and meals as frustration has cropped up among the young players,” as official who is in know of the developments told ‘Kashmir Vision’.

He said that an aggrieved player has jeopardized the entire squad’s chance of 16 players of making it big in the tournament.

“If the aggrieved player had any issues he could have targeted the selection committee who formalized the list of players. Why was the young team made a target,” the official added.

Meanwhile, the delay forced the players of the under 23 team to stage a protest on the feild on Tuesday.

When ‘Kashmir Vision’ contacted Minister for Youth Services, Sports and Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari he said that he is pained at the development.

“Since I am not associated with the JKCA directly, but being the sports minister and a sports enthusiast, I am concerned about the players. I have sought a report on the entire issue from the officials and will try my best to help the team that has been put on hold,” he added.
