An army officer was killed after hit by a mysterious fire last night in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Official sources said that an army officer (JCO) Raj Kumar part of patrolling party suddenly received a bullet at Drang village in Beerwah.
In the incident, Kumar of 53 RR received serious injuries and was shifted to near by army hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A police official said that they have launched investigations to ascertain the cause of fire incident.
Meanwhile, army claimed that the officer lost his life in a militant attack.
“Army JCO was killed in a brief encounter with militants at Beerwa Budgam in central Kashmir while laying a cordon”, an army officer said.
