Srinagar: Private Schools Association of Kashmir (PSAK) Thursday for the first time organised World Teachers Day on a grand scale with delegates coming from European countries to South Africa to eminent educationists from across India.
The Association took the opportunity to lay out its roadmap adopted for the betterment of education sector in the state. Minister for Education Altaf Bukhari welcomed the initiative of the PSAK in getting experts from outside the country and helping student of the state to achieve the highest level of skills.
Jozef Drofenik, Ambassador Republic of Slovenia and LLyass Dessie from South Africa were also present on the occasion and they extended their full help in developing the education sector in the state. It was for the first time that people from outside the country took part in the world teachers day in Kashmir.
On the occasion the association also gave awards to people and institutions for their outstanding achievement and work.
Those awarded included eminent lawyer and social activist Zaffar Shah, secretary Education Er Farooq Ahmad Shah for his huge initiatives in transforming education sector, Kashmir’s daily English newspaper Greater Kashmir for its contribution in highlighting issues related to education, Government teacher Farooq Ahmad Lone for his dedication and exemplary work, and Mohammed Amin Bhat principal Minto circle school and author of five books.
Hundreds of school representatives from all over the state participated in the event.
A short film was also released on the occasion that showcased the future strategy of PSAK in betterment of education sector in the state.
The Association said that it will help the education sector irrespective of school affiliation. “To train the teachers we are signing an MOU with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and they will train both private as well as government school teachers,” said G N Var president PSAK. “They will train our teachers for free with global level skills.”
On the occasion National Analytical Aptitude Test (NAAT) was also launched with the help of which aptitude of children will be tested and remedial measures taken to exploit their fullest potential.
Those who attended the function also included Director Education, Director Academics BOSE, Director RMSA, Director SSA, Joint director SIE and others.
