International Teachers Day: No better service to nation than imparting education, says Altaf Bukhari

Srinagar: Minister for Education Syed Altaf Ahmad Bukhari, Thursday, said that the  teachers are  playing most important role in nation building by providing quality education to the students and on their shoulders lies the onus of raising a strong and developed society.

The Minister was speaking at a function organized by Private School Association, Kashmir, at SKICC this afternoon to commemorate the “International Teachers Day” being observed around the globe on 5th October each year.

Ambassador of Republic of Solenia in India Mr. Josef Drofenik was the chief guest on the occasion.

 Terming teaching as the best vocation in the World, the Minister said there is a teacher behind every successful person and it is the only profession which gives rise to all other professions. “A person’s life is incomplete without a teacher who not only teaches him routine academic education but also inculcates leadership qualities, self confidence, enthusiasm, positivity and courage to deal with any difficult situation in life,” he added.

Altaf Bukhari said that there is no better service to the nation than spreading knowledge and enlightening someone’s life with the light of education.

Hailing the working of the private schools in the State, the Minister said that these schools are playing vital role in imbibing quality education among the students. He said, besides the government schools, private schools are producing torch bearers for the nations also.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Republic of Solenia in India Josef Drofenik threw light on the importance of education and role of teacher in the world. He said the teachers are backbone of the society and they should be the source of inspiration for budding youth.

Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, while speaking on the occasion said that the government has put focus back on education to achieve excellence and urged the teaching fraternity to contribute wholeheartedly in improving standards of education so that our students also get a level-playing field.

Among others Director School Education, Kashmir, Dr. GN Itoo, Director RMSA Tufail Mattoo, Director SSA, Director Academics JK BOSE Farooq Ahmad Peer, Principal SIE, Srinagar, General Secretary Private School Association Kashmir Showket Ahmad Choudhary, large number of teachers of private as well as government schools and media persons were present.
