Five killed as army foils two infiltration bids

Indian Army today claimed to have foiled two infiltration bids and killed five infiltrators in two different operations in North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Kupwara districts.

According to the reports, an infiltration bid was foiled in Rampur sector of Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Sources said that two armed intruders were killed during the operation.

According to sources, soldiers of 20 RR personnel patrolling the border on Monday noticed some movement near the border posts in Rampur sector.

Soon after the movement, troops laid a siege and cornered the intruders who were trying to cross over to this side, an army official said.

As the intruders opened fire, the troops retaliated killing the two armed intruders, he added.

 “Two weapons have been recovered from the spot while the search operation is going on,” an army spokesman said later in a statement.

In another incident Army said that it foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

They said that three militants have been killed so far in the operation.

“One more militant has been killed, taking the death toll of infiltrators to three in an ongoing operation at Tanghdar sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday,” army’s Srinagar based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.

He said that the search operation in the area is still going on.

He said that an infiltration bid was foiled in the area of Tangdar sector by 6 Gadwal regiment.
