At least eight shops were damaged in a fire incident at Tarthpora village of Ramhall Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday evening, police said.
An official said that at around 08 pm last evening fire started from one of the shops in the area and within minutes it spread to other adjacent shops.
As soon as flames started to spread to other shops and buildings, fire brigade reached the spot and with the help of the locals brought the fire under control.
However, reports said that eight shops have been gutted and goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the incident. Police has registered a case and started investigations.
