Taking cognizance of an incident of braid chopping in the district, the District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz, has appealed the general public of the district not to panic.
In a reply to an incident of hair chopping of Saima Jan of Batpora, the DM has said that stringent legal action is being initiated against culprits. He also said Saima has recovered consciousness and is feeling better.
The DM also said that a comprehensive investigation has been initiated into the matter, adding that police has been deployed at various locations in the district.
He said people must not panic and appealed all to desist from spreading rumors in this regard.
Meanwhile, the district administration has set up a helpline number 9596768831 for reporting incidents related to braid chopping.
