City Sports beat FC Adipora, lifts final title

City Sports Sopore Thursday lifted the grand finale title of football league championship in a penalty shootout at Wular View football ground Adipora Sopore, after the scores had been levelled at 1:1 after 90 minutes of the play.

The final match was played between FC Adipora & City Sports Wular, in which City Sports Sopore emerged victorious.

Earlier FC Aadipora’s Star goalkeeper Waseem Ahmad saved a penalty during the match but couldn’t save his team from losing in the penalty shootout. Both teams scored 1:1 after 90 minutes of the play.

For his extra ordinary goalkeeping Waseem Ahmad of FC Adipora was awarded as an emerging player of the tournament.

MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar was the chief guest. Chief organiser of the championship Mohammad Shafi was also present, along with other senior citizens of the area to witness the final match.

A total number of 16 teams took part in this championship enthralling the football lovers of North Kashmir, especially of Sopore. The first match of this championship was played on August 3rd, 2017. The championship was organised by Jalal Pesticides Association Adipora Sopore .

While talking to media, Mohammad Shafi, the Chief organiser of this tournament said such sports activities are organised to encourage youth participation, Sharpen the sporting skills and techniques of the footballers and inculcate a sense of team spirit, sportsmanship, healthy thinking and physique.
