Mudasir’s family protests in Srinagar

The family of Mudasir Javed, a Junior Engineer, who allegedly committed suicide May this year, Tuesday staged protests against the authorities for failing to take appropriate action against the Mudasir’s alleged suicide.

The family and relatives of Mudasir assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans in favour of Justice.

Earlier on May 05 this year, Mudasir Javed wife of Javed Ahmad Bungree of Illahi Bagh Soura, an engineer allegedly committed suicide by jumping into River Jhelum near Old Zaina Kadal Bridge.

The family of Mudasir said that her in-laws who were earlier arrested by the Police have been released on bail. “We demand the authorities that those who are involved in the murder of our daughter should be dealt with strictly according to the law,” they demanded.

The protesting family said that the Police should re-arrest the culprits so that the justice will be done. “We have been urging the authorities to take action against the culprits but unfortunately the killers of our beloved daughter are roaming freely,” the protesters said.

They said that the statement by Mudasir’s inlaws were contradictory over the death of their daughter following which they urged the Police to question her in-laws so that the facts would come to fore.

“Police later questioned her in-laws and arrested them but they have now been released on bail,” the protesters said, adding that they should be re-arrested to deliver justice to the Mudasir.
