Litter Chakoora road in shambles, commuters suffer

Failure of Roads and Building (R&B) department to undertake repairs of Litter Chakoora road in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is taking a heavy toll on the commuters.

The road stretch from Litter via Chowdribag, Rajpora, Astanpora has developed potholes, which cause frequent traffic jams in the areas.

The locals alleged that the authorities have failed to macadamize the road stretch since the year 2008.

“We face immense problems due to the dilapidated road. The uneven surface and potholes on the stretch pose risk of accidents. It is ironical that authorities are resorting to dilly-dallying tactics to repair the road,” said Abdul Aziz, a local.

He also said that the authorities shouldn’t ignore the plights of commuters and must take immediate steps to put an end to the sufferings of people.

The locals later urged the higher ups to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at earliest.

Xen R&B Pulwama, Sajad Ahmad was not available to comment over the issue despite repeated calls.
