Unauthorised truck unions go unchecked in South Kashmir

 

In a flagrant violation of norms set by the government, the unauthorized truck unions that have surfaced in the areas of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are charging fare from the people on their will.

Locals said that the unauthorized truck unions are ‘looting people’ as none from the administration bothers to take action the offenders.

They said that unauthorized truck unions have surfaced in whole south Kashmir especially from Sangam to Khanbal area of Anantnag district.

Locals alleged that these unauthorized unions are charging hefty fares and are keeping the government orders aside.

They alleged that the authorities are in deep slumber as no action has so far been taken in this regard, adding that with the inaction of authorities, the local orchardists are suffering.

As per sources, Tiger truck union Sangam, Sangam Transport Company and other unions are charging fare from fruit growers as per their will.

Locals demanded authorities to take keen interest in this regard so that the orchardists will feel a sigh of relief.

Ghulam Hasan Nengroo, President Fruit Growers Association Dachnipora belt said that all the unions in the area are unauthorised.

 “We have raised this issue several times with the concerned Minister and district administration but to no avail,” he said.

DDC Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik however, could not be contacted for his comments as he did not receive the phone calls made by this reporter.
