Massive protests have erupted in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a youth died  allegedly due to the non-availability of Ambulance driver.

According to reports, Mohammad  Rafiq Bhat, 22,  son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Kachnambal Kangan a mechanic by profession , was brought to Trauma Hospital Kangan immediately after he fell unconscious on Wednesday afternoon at his own automobile shop.

“However for special treatment he was referrd to to SKIMS Soura Srinagar. But there was no Ambulance driver available in the Hospital to ferry him to SKIMS Soura, ” alleged the relatives of the deceased.

The family members of the slain youth said that after calling a local from nearby Sumo Stand Kangan, Rafiq was taken to SKIMS Soura however doctors declared him brought dead at 9 pm Wednesday.

Consequently, relatives of the deceased and other residents early today closed Srinagar-Leh Highway at main market Kangan and demanded strict action against the ambulance driver and other concerned persons on duty.

Protests were going on when reports last came in.
