Creative Writing workshop inaugurated at Cultural Centre Nowhatta

Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah, Sunday inaugurated a Creative Writing workshop at the Cultural Centre at Nowhatta.

The workshop is being organized by Waruk, a social organization, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism. The aim of the workshop is to help the local youth gain skills in creative writing. The workshop will be held on weekends for four weeks.

Students from different colleges and schools participated in the event to hone their creative writing skills on the inaugural day, on which some 50 students, including 25 graduates and 25 schools-going students, were clubbed in a group for them to learn from each other.

The workshop saw trainers and guest lectures offer technical skills to students. The event also includes role of writing in various forms of arts.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir said the Tourism Department wants to highlight the potential of the youth in creative writing. He said the Department will continue to hold such activities in the Cultural Centre to highlight the potential of local youth in different fields.

He said the Cultural Central will be abuzz with such activities in future to bring this place on the tourism map.
