Join us to take on Delhi, Geelani tells mainstream politicians

Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday asked the pro-Indian politicians to join pro-freedom ranks and play their role in resolving the long-pending Kashmir issue.

Geelani according to a statement issued here said that the authorities in New Delhi are hell bent to tamper with the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir state.

Cautioning people against the nefarious designs of Delhi and the local government, Geelani said that people in the state won’t allow anyone to alter or interfere with the integrity and special status of the state and will safeguard it at all costs.

“From the day one BJP regime is working to sabotage the referendum process in Jammu Kashmir and is hatching conspiracies to achieve desired results to influence the process of referendum,” he said.

Commenting over the proposed abrogation of article 35-A, Geelani said that it is a well thought out ploy to tamper with the special status of Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir and added that while carrying ‘brutal bloodshed’, authorities are creating Palestine like situations in the state.

Lamenting at pro-Indian parties, Geelani said that their rhetoric about prevailing situation is just a political gimmick and added that they are responsible for tampering and fiddling with article 370.

Criticizing RSS and their ally for their unholy nexus, Geelani said that the move to abrogate this article is a pre-planned game and reports of leaving coalition is just, a mockery and political gimmick.

Geelani expressed his deep concern over the proposed tinkering in state subject law and said that it is a conspiracy to alter demography and Muslim majority status of Jammu Kashmir.

He said that if any such move is undertaken, the people from outside states will purchase land in JK and a situation like that of Palestine will arise.

“It is conspiracy to alter demography and Muslim majority status of Jammu Kashmir and will be resisted tooth and nail,” he said.

Appealing writers, scholars and respected members of society to aware masses about the consequences of proposed repealing of state subject law, he asked to make every possible effort to reach to international community about prevailing horrifying situations and disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) paid tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his 8th martyrdom anniversary and said that he was a valiant son of soil.

“His contribution for ongoing movement will be written with golden ink,” Hurriyat (G) added.

The spokesman condemned and expressed its strong resentment over the arrest of Advocate Zahid Ali (Spokesperson of Jamaat-e-Islami) and while terming it condemnable and sheer frustration of authorities, said that they are choking space for peaceful political activities to crush the sentiment of people who are demanding their fundamental and birth right that is ‘right to self-determination.

Hailing university students for their commitment with ongoing freedom movement, the spokesman said that it is praiseworthy that students illustrated their passions and freedom sentiments during Governors visit to the University.
