Defunct drainage system in Lal Bazar awaits completion

In yet another instance of the alleged official apathy, the competition work on the drainage system being constructed at Umar Colony-B Lal Bazar Srinagar is awaiting its completion for past four years.

A delegation comprising of said that the authorities started the work to construct the drainage system in their area four years ago but the work is still awaiting competition due to the carelessness of the administration.

They said that they are facing immense hardships due to the official apathy. “The authorities are turning their eyes over the sufferings being faced by the inhabitants here,” they said.

They said that they approached to several higher ups in this regard to speed up the work but unfortunately nothing has been done thereby leaving the residents to lurch at large.

Accusing the higher ups of ignoring their plights, the residents here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.

Meanwhile, the residents also said that link roads in their areas are also in shambles thereby leaving the commuters to face tremendous hardships.

They said that the link roads in their area must be macadamized so that the inhabitants could feel a sigh of relief.

The residents appealed the higher ups including the concerned minister to look into the matter and redress their grievances as soon as possible.

However, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner, Dr Shafqat Khan said that there is no drainage incomplete from past four years.
