DC Kupwara holds Public Durbar at Kunan-Poshpora

Pursuant to the initiative launched by the District Administration Kupwara as a part of Public Contact Program, a public durbar was convened by District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir at Kunan Village in which a mammoth gathering of locals of Kunan-Poshpora, Hanjipora villages of Tehsil Trehgam participated.

The number of prominent citizens, local public representatives of the area Numberdars, Chowkidars, ex-PRIs representatives were present to highlight the issues, demands, problems of the general public of the area.

 During the entire interaction, a fruitful exchange of views for the mitigating of the problems and addressing the developmental requirements was held. The major demands raised by the public related to drinking water supply, streamlining of irrigation canals, protection of bunds on banks of Khemil Nallah, improvement and up gradation of Kunan-Poshpora Chowkibal-Heri road and interior links, non-availability of playground, execution of public conveniences, flood protection channels, job opportunities for educated un employed youths and other basic requirements were raised during the public interaction programme.

Charter of demands was put forth by the representative for early redressal.  The officers of different executing agencies were also present in the durbar to hear the people’s demands and issues for its redressal after receiving the instruction from the chair were addressed on spot.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that PCP has been initiated for providing e-governance at the door steps and enhancing the responsiveness of the administrative system.

He assured the public that prompt action for resolving the problems faced by the public will be taken in the interest of the public. Responding to the public demands highlighted by the public includes all roads, interior links leads to Kunan–Poshpora would be carried out on top priority. Besides  Kahmail Nallah would be given due protection, the playground in Kunan would be developed for restoration of sports activities, the educated unemployed youths are being accommodated under sheep, animal husbandry, horticulture, fisheries departmental schemes. For this purpose, the ACD Kupwara, other executing agencies were asked to submit their action taken the report for caring out the same.

The Kunan-Poshpora village has been approved for its development on modern grounds as cluster Model Village under BADP 2017-18 project approved by the government of India. He was informed that 3 kanals of land were covered under High-density Plantation.

The Chief Horticulture officer was asked to accommodate the youth of the area by providing the income generating units under the horticulture schemes. The ACD in collaboration with Revenue authorities was directed to carry out the works of the playground at Kunan-Poshpora within 15 days. The irrigation department was directed to carry out the protection works on the banks of Khemail Nallah to ensure the protection of the village. It was given that under irrigation and flood control sector Rs 18.01 crore have been earmarked under irrigation, flood control component within Kunan-Poshpora and Hanjipora village under BADP 2017-18.

He Directed the concerned officers for taking all measures to resolve the day to day problems of the public grievances as per their requirements, however the DDC asked the public to contact DC office if they face any unconvinced from the executive agency, while the youth of the area have asked to oversee the execution works carried out by the different agencies under the programme launched by the government under cluster model village at Kunan-Poshpora under BADP.

Later, the DDC paid an extensive tour to various ongoing developmental works to review the progress on these projects besides he visited high-density plantation garden, Khemail Nallah and other government institutions. Several public deputations also met DDC to have detailed discussion with him during the tour.
