JK Govt bans e-cigarettes

With a view to discourage the consumption of cigarettes and tobacco by the people, the Government today ordered a complete ban on the sale including online sale of Electronic Cigarettes (e-Cigarettes) in the Jammu and Kashmir state with immediate effect.

Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Pawan Kotwal (IAS), said that by choking the availability of loose cigarettes, the government is to curtail the habit of people who are using E-Cigarettes particularly school going kids who buy E- cigarettes mostly through online shopping portals.

As per the notification all forms of E-Cigarettes available both at outlets and online, manufacture, distribution, trade, import and advertisement of Electronic Nicotine Delivery System.

Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir also heading State Tobacco Control Cell Kashmir has hailed the imitative and said that our State is fourth State to impose such ban.
