Massive traffic jam near Pantha Chowk after CRPF troopers allegedly thrash driver

A massive traffic jam was witnessed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar on Saturday after a contingent of CRPF personnel allegedly thrashed a local driver, reports said.

According to the reports, troopers thrashed a driver after he was signaled to stop his vehicle on the highway.

“The CRPF personnel deployed at the bridge directed a passenger vehicle driver to stop. The driver stopped, however, a few meters ahead. This infuriated the troopers who thrashed the driver”, reports said.

The driver in protest parked his vehicle on the road and started protesting. He was soon joined by hundreds of commuters, drivers and locals. They demanded that the CRPF personnel be taken to task for highhandedness.

This triggered a massive traffic jam on the highway, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.

Meanwhile, local police officials and the army personnel reached the spot and are trying to convince the protesters to call of the protests and make way for traffic.
