Maj Gogoi did not act in accordance to law, says Er. Rashid

Reacting to the recommendations made by state human rights commission, asking government to pay Rs 10 lakhs as compensation to Farooq Dar, who was used as human shield by Major Gogoi in Budgam, AIP supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rashid said, that the ruling proves that neither Farooq Dar was a stone-pelter nor had Major Gogoi done anything in accordance with the law.

He said, “It is shameful that media, intellectuals and politicians are still trying to defend Major Gogoi. SHRC should have recommended strict action against Major Gogoi but after this judgment, the Govt is duty bound to initiate stern action against the Army Major.

“Those who still defend Major Gogoi should feel ashamed and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti must compensate Farooq Dar immediately,” the lawmaker said.
