South Kashmir shuts to mourn militant killings

Following the death of three militants in a gunfight with government forces yesterday, a complete shutdown is being observed in Shopian and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Three militants – Jehangir Ahmad of Keller, Akhtar Alam of Reasi and Kifayat Ahmad of Bahmnoo Pulwama – were killed in a gunfight with forces in Bahmnoo village of Pulwama.

All shops , educational institutes and other business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads.

Two militants Jehangir Ah and kifayat Ah were laid to rest at their ancestral villages yesterday while as Akhter Alam of Reasi was laid to rest today in Khawaja Pora Reban Shopian.

Thousands of men, women and children participated in his funeral prayers in Shopian village, where some of his relatives live.

Akhter was Pakistan trained militant and his photos with United Jihad Council chief Syed Salahudin in Pakistan  have gone viral on social media.
