Service Revolver of the slain DSP recovered

J&K Police have recovered the service revolver  of the slain Deputy Superintendent of Police  Muhammad Ayoub Pandith  who was lynched by an unruly mob during Shab-e-Qadr outside thJamia Masjid at Nowhatta , the Tribune reported.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the police was formed to probe the case who had identified nearly two dozen people involved in the lynching and arrested many among them.

“SIT members received a call from an unknown number and were told that the revolver wrapped in a newspaper had been kept at a specific place in old city. The SIT raided the spot and recovered the weapon”, the newspaper reported.

Meanwhile,  the SIT head has requested public to help in identifying the persons involved in the lynching, that sparked widespread condemnation.
