5 jawans injured in encounter with Maoists in Sukma

Five Special Task Force (STF) personnel were injured in a gun battle with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district today, reports said.

“A joint team of STF, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CoBRA(Commando Batallion for Resolute Action) were cordoningoff a forest patch in southern part of Chintagufta when they came under the fire from a group of Naxals. The security forces retaliated, triggering an exchange of fire,’’ an official said.the ensuing encounter, five jawans were injured and efforts were on to evacuate the injured jawans, added the official.

Earlier this year in April, in a deadly ambush by Naxals, 25 CRPF personnel were killed and six other injured in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
