Gunfight breaks out between security forces and militants in Pulwama

Gunfight broke out on Wednesday evening between security forces and militants in Kakapora  area of Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

According to the sources , Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Kakapora area of Pulwama around 6 pm following information about presence of militants there.

As the security forces consisting of 50 RR,SOG Pulwama and 182 & 183 CRPF  were conducting the searches, they were fired upon by some hiding militants.

The security forces retaliated, triggering a gun battle.

Preliminary reports suggest that two local Laskar-e-Toiba militants Majid Ahmad  Mir of Kakapora and Shabir of Aghanzipora Padgampora are believed to be  trapped.

Meanwhile Army Colonel has been hit by bullet. He was immediately shifted to hospital.

Gun battle was going on when last reports came in.
