KTMF calls for Kashmir bandh on Saturday over GST row

Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) on Thursday called for Kashmir Bandh on Saturday June 17 against proposed implementation of GST in Jammu and Kashmir.

“GST will affect the Article 370. KTMF will not allow State Government to implement this in the state,” Chairman KTMF said.

Pertinently, the state government has convened a special session of assembly on Jun 17 to pave way for the implementation of the GST.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders have also opposed the implementation of GST in the state. “GST implementation at the cost of special status and fiscal autonomy of JK is unacceptable to the people,” Senior NC leader and former finance minister, Abdul Raheem Rather .

He said that NC during the All Party Meeting convened by the state’s Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, urged the government to ensure the safety of special status and fiscal autonomy of the state should be ensured.

Joint resistance Leadership which include the Hurriyat trio, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Muhmmad Yasin Malik has also jumped into the fray and expressed deep concern over the way the GST act is being imposed in the state.

They said that it is a well thought out plan to cripple the trade and economy in the Valley.
