Protests in Frisal Kulgam aganist alleged ‘highhandedness’ of forces

The residents of Frisal village of Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Wednesday staged protests against the alleged high-handedness of government forces.

The village observed a spontaneous shutdown to protest the forces’ action.

The villagers alleged that forces ransacked several houses without any provocation late last night.

They took to streets to protest against the forces, who they alleged, smashed windowpanes of houses and also damaged vehicles parked on the roadside.

“They (forces) damaged private cars, load carriers and broke doors and windowpanes of several houses,” alleged a local, who didn’t wish to be named for fear of reprisal.

However, Superintendent of Police Kulgam Shridhar Patel denied the allegations.

He claimed that miscreants might be involved in the act. “It might be some personal rivalry and they (villagers) are blaming us,” he said
